University of Minnesota Duluth sophomore defenseman Brigette Lacquette has been named to Canada’s National Women’s Under-22/Development Team that will play in a three-game series against the United States’ Women’s Under-22 Select Team from Thursday, Aug. 16 to Sunday, Aug. 19 in Calgary.

The 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders were chosen following Canada’s National Women’s Under-22/Development Team selection camp held Aug. 3-11, also held in Calgary, at Hockey Canada’s home rink, the WinSport Canada Athletic & Ice Complex.

Lacquette hails from Mallard, Manitoba and compiled 20 points (5g, 15a) in 36 games last season as a rookie.  Lacquette's efforts landed her on the 2011-12 All-WCHA Rookie Team and helped rank her as the 10th highest-scoring blueliner in the conference in both league games and all games played.

Lacquette and the Bulldogs will kick-off the 2012-13 season on September 28 when UMD hosts the Minnesota Whitecaps in an exhibition series at AMSOIL Arena.
