UMD FOOTBALL TAILGATE AREA TO NOW INCLUDE "HONEY BEAR'S DEN"
Monday, September 3, 2012
The debut of "Honey Bear's Den", named in honor of long-time University of Minnesota Duluth football staff member Scott "H.B." Hanna, is set to take place this Saturday (Sept. 8) in the tailgating area just outside of James S. Malosky Stadium. The four-time defending Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champion Bulldogs will face arch-rival Winona State University that evening at 6 p.m. and from 4 p.m until kickoff, Honey Bear's Den will serve as a gathering spot for all UMD football and baseball alumni and members of the Bulldog Club.
Hanna retired from UMD this past May after 44 years of service (the longest tenure in Bulldog athletics history) as as football equipment manager, head baseball coach, assistant football coach, and football and baseball player.
Some new tailgating and parking rules have been implemented for the 2012 season. Gold Lot C (which abuts Malosky Stadium), for example, will now be off limits to all vehicles on game day and not traffic will be allowed on University Drive to commute through campus prior to UMD football games.
