Monday, September 24, 2012

Pittsburg State University and the University of Minnesota Duluth held down the top two spots in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Preseason Poll and now, some four weeks into the 2012 season, the continue rank 1-2.

UMD, which upended Augustana College 42-35 this past Saturday evening at James S. Malosky Stadium to move to 4-0 on the year,  is one of three  Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference clubs to make this week's Top 25 list (Minnesota State University-Mankato is at No. 15 and the University of Sioux Falls is at No. 25).

With the exception of just two times (both coming last fall), the Bulldogs have cracked the Top 10 in every AFCA II weekly poll since Sept. 29, 2008 and were rated first from Nov. 2, 2010 until Sept. 19, 2011 after they fell 7-0 at Wayne State College.

UMD, the four-time defending NSIC champions, will be at St. Cloud State University (2-2 overall)  this Saturday night.
