Another upper division Western Collegiate Hockey Associatioin finish is in the cards for the University of Minnesota Duluth men according to the 25 broadcasters and scribes who cast their ballots in the annual 94X WCHA Media Poll.


UMD, which placed second in the league standings one year ago and was 25-10-6 overall, held down the No. 5 spot in this year's rating. Defending WCHA champion University of Minnesota was a near-unanimous choice to repeat as, picking up 24 of 25 first-place votes with No. 2 University of North Dakota accounting for the other vote. The University of Denver (No. 3) and the University of Wisconsin (No. 4), UMD, and St. Cloud State University (No. 6) rounded out the top six positions.

The Bulldogs will hold their first official preseason practice on Oct. 6 before launching their 69th season of intercollegiate hockey the following weekend with a two-game non-conference home series against Ohio State University.
