BULLDOGS STAND PAT IN LATEST AVCA POLL
Monday, October 8, 2012
Consecutive straight-set victories on a tough road trip have the University of Minnesota Duluth holding down the three-hole for a second straight week in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, released Monday.
The Bulldogs breezed to a sweep over the University of Mary on Friday, then introduced themselves to Minot State University with a 3-0 rout in the first-ever meeting between the two programs Saturday afternoon. UMD, which covered over 1,000 miles of highway last weekend, stands at 17-1 overall and 9-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
In addition to UMD, four other NSIC programs appeared in this week's poll, including: Southwest Minnesota State University (No. 2), Concordia University-St. Paul (No. 6), Minnesota State University-Mankato (No. 13) and Wayne State College (No. 19). Minnesota State University-Moorhead received votes in the poll, but did not break into the Top 25.
Next up for UMD is another grueling weekend on the road. The Bulldogs will head out to Augustana College and Wayne State College this Friday and Saturday.
