BULLDOGS MOVE UP ONE SLOT TO NO. 5 IN AVCA POLL

Monday, October 22, 2012

Three efficient wins pushed the University of Minnesota Duluth past the 20-win plateau and on Monday, the Bulldogs moved up a spot to No. 5 in the American Coaches Volleyball Association poll as a result.

UMD (21-2 overall and 12-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) posted consecutive victories over St. Cloud State University, Upper Iowa University and Winona State University at Romano Gymnasium during a busy homecoming week. The Bulldogs dropped just one set over the three-match stretch in improving to 12-0 (and 36-4 in individual games) on their home floor.

With just three weeks remaining in the regular season, UMD shares second place in the NSIC standings with Concordia University-St. Paul. Southwest Minnesota State University -- again the top-ranked team in the national poll -- leads the NSIC with a league record of 13-1.

The Bulldogs are on the road this weekend for conference clashes at Minnesota State University-Moorhead and Northern State University.
