UMD STAYS PUT IN LATEST AVCA POLL

Monday, October 29, 2012

A couple of gritty road wins have kept the University of Minnesota Duluth where it has been the majority of the season, near the top of the national rankings. The Bulldogs checked in at the same spot as one week ago -- No. 5 -- in the latest American Coaches Volleyball Association poll, released Monday.

UMD (23-2 overall) picked up four-set victories over Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foes Minnesota State University-Moorhead and Northern State University last Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs finished a treacherous October schedule with a record of 8-1, and currently sit one game back from NSIC-leading Southwest Minnesota State University in the conference title race with a league record of 15-2.

The Bulldogs are back at home on Thursday, when they will host Bemidji State University in the annual "Dig Pink" game at Romano Gymnasium.
