Amassed more victories than any coach in the 81-year history of UMD athletics ... retired from the Bulldog coaching ranks in 2005 ranking 16th on the NCAA II charts for both all-time victories (he was 657-306 overall) and winning percentage (.682) ... directed UMD to 13 of a possible 20 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference titles, five league second-place finishes, two NCAA II Regional appearances (1996 and 2002) and three NAIA National Tournaments ... failed to register a winning mark only twice in his 24 seasons at the UMD helm and coached the Bulldogs to a NSIC-record 46 straight conference triumphs between April 26, 1991 and April 23, 1996 ... captured runner-up honors at the 1988 NAIA nationals and followed that up with seventh- and fifth-place finishes in 1990 and 1991 (en route to being named the NAIA Coach of the Year) ... his Bulldog players received All-NSIC or All-North Central Conference first team recognition on 82 occasions during his tenure ... coached six current UMD Athletic of Famers -- Sue Sajevic, Lori Ogren, Kelli (Ritzer) Thomas,Patty Becker,  Diane Ruhl and Ann (Patet) Henry ... began a near three-decade tenure as UMD’s athletic compliance officer in 1984-85 ... also was the event manager for Bulldog football and hockey home games from 1984 to 1997 ... graduated from UMD in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in history and a minor in political science.
