Attained All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition three times (first team in 1954 and 1956, second team in 1955) ... was a two-way starter all four years in addition to being one of UMD’s primary return specialists and punters ... paced the Bulldogs in total offense and scoring for four straight seasons and established then-UMD records in both of those categories ... captained the Bulldogs in 1956 while being chosen the team’s Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row ... suited up with the Bulldog freshman basketball team in 1953-54 ... received UMD’s Top Senior Scholar Athlete Award for 1956-57 ... graduated from UMD in 1957 with a Bachelor's degree in business and economics and a minor in political science ... was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Minn.
