Has been a tireless ally for the Bulldog athletic program with his time, advocacy and financial support since graduating from UMD in 1957 (with a business and economics degree) ... Served on a number of booster and fundraising committees such as the UMD Hoop Club and Bulldog Club and has endowed multiple scholarships for UMD student-athletes ... Was the first individual to help provide resources to elevate scholarship levels in the mid-1990s when UMD aligned itself solely with the NCAA for its Divison II sports (and end its affiliation with the NAIA) ... Has also made significant commitments to help fund various capital projects for Bulldog facilities, making him the largest individual philanthropic donor in UMD athletics history ... Was the 2002-03 recipient of UMD Athletic's Marsh Nelson Award (for exemplary leadership and support of the Bulldogs) and the all-time Outstanding Fan Award in 2005-06 when UMD celebrated its 75th season of intercollegiate basketball.
