Attained All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football acclaim in each of his two seasons at UMD and was an Associated Press All-American pick (honorable mention) in 1959 ... finished first among the 1958 and 1959 Bulldogs in scoring as well as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in that same department as a sophomore ... also lettered twice and started one year (1959-60) with the basketball Bulldogs ... played for five seasons in the National Football League as a defensive back with the Green Bay Packers (1960), Minnesota Vikings (1961) and the New York Giants (1962-64) and took part in three NFL Championship games (1960, 1962 and 1963) ... had a two-year head coaching appointment (1968-69) with the Orlando Panthers and won the Continental Football League title during his inaugural season ... was an assistant coach with the Orlando Panthers (1966-67), at Idaho State University (1971-72), and with the Houston Texans (1973) and the San Antonio Wings (1974) of the World Football League ... inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame in 1974.
