(1979-82)

Capped off his rewarding UMD career in 1982 by being chosen to the Associated Press Little All-America first team  -- becoming only the fourth Bulldog at the time to be so honored) -- as well as the NAIA All-American second team ... Started three seasons on UMD's offensive line, shifting between guard and center ... Was an integral part of Bulldog clubs that complied a 26-3-0 overall record and captured one Northern Intercollegiate Conference championship (in 1980 when they finished a perfect 10-0-0 overall)during that stretch ... Was a two-time All-NIC selection (1981 and 1982) and won the Glen Johnson Award (UMD's Most Valuable Lineman) as a junior ... Voted UMD's Top Male Scholar-Athlete for 1982-83 ... Received a tryout with the National Football League's New York Jets in the summer following his senior year ...  Graduated from UMD in 1983 with a degree in social studies  ... Served as a football assistant coach with the 1983 Bulldogs and worked in the city of Duluth's Business Development Department (assistant planner)  ... Attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, for a year and a half prior to coming to UMD, but did not play football for the Cougars ... Died of a heart attack on Oct. 12, 1985 at the age of 26.
