Was a four-year lettermen in two sports and attained All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football status on both offense and defense during each of his final three collegiate seasons … recipient of UMD’s Outstanding Lineman Award in 1962 … played a major role in UMD’s conquest of two MIAC titles (1960 and 1961) and one runner-up conference finish (1962) … is one of only three Bulldogs (the other two, John Nachtsheim and the late Terry Egerdahl are fellow UMD Athletic Hall of Fame members) to be named to the All-MIAC Football Team three or more times … compiled a 10-15-0 goaltending record in 28 lifetime hockey appearances and was a part of two MIAC championship teams (1959-60 and 1960-61) … stayed active in the Senior Hockey League circuit once his Bulldog days were over, skating for the Grand Rapids (Minn.) Bruins in 1963 and the famed Duluth Hornets the following winter … graduated from UMD with in 1964 with a B.S. degree in physical education … secured a physical education teaching position in The Dalles, Ore., in the fall of 1965 and signed on as an assistant high school football and wrestling coach ... native of International Falls, Minn.
