Capped off his four-year collegiate playing career by being selected the winner of UMD's Goldie Wolfe Most Inspirational Award for a second straight season ... racked up 138 points (65 goals and 73 assists) in 134 lifetime games with the Bulldogs ... established club records for shorthanded goals in a season (five in both 1977-78 and 1978-79) and a career (12) and fastest two shorthanded goals (40 seconds apart vs. Michigan on Feb. 11, 1978) ... finished fourth in the 1978-79 WCHA scoring race as an alternate team captain while becoming just the second Bulldog to ever crack the 70-point mark in a single season (72 points in just 40 games) ... was named the Bulldog's Most Improved Player following his junior year ... winner of UMD's Top Scholar Athlete Award in 1978-79 ... skated for the gold-medal winning USA team at the 1980 Olympics and also was a member of the 1984 USA Olympic Team ... has served as head hockey coach at St. John's University since 1993 and guided the Johnnies to a pair of MIAC regular season championships (1996 and 1997) and three NCAA play-off appearances (1996,1997 and 2001) ... spent nine years in an assistant coaching capacity at the University of Denver (1984-90) and at St. Cloud State University (1990-93) ... graduated from UMD in 1979 with a B.A.S. degree in education ... is a native of Virginia, Minn.
