Secured All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors all three of his seasons in a Bulldog uniform (he transferred to UMD from the University of Colorado in 1960) and was named the conference’s co-Most Valuable Player as a senior … was an NAIA All-American second team selection in 1962 and landed UMD’s Most Valuable Player Award for a second straight time that season … rushed for a then-UMD record 1,843 yards during his Bulldog tenure … finished second among all NCAA small college combatants in scoring (112 points, including 17 touchdowns) in 1961 while helping lead UMD to an 8-1 record and a perfect 7-0 MIAC mark … was a key component of two MIAC championship teams (1960 and 1961) … holds a B.S. degree in physical education from UMD (1963) … launched, in 1963, a lengthy and prosperous Wisconsin high school basketball and football coaching career which spanned over five decades and included stints in Hurley (1963-66), Bayfield (1969-80), Washburn (1980-85) and Drummond (1996-present) … served as an assistant football coach with the Bulldogs during the 1985 season … has sent scores of his prep players on to UMD … spent eight years (1985-93) employed as the College of St. Scholastica’s head men’s basketball coach … is a native of Robbinsdale, Minn. … his oldest son, Mark,  was a UMD halfback from 1983-86.
