Was an active supporter and ambassador for the UMD athletic program for nearly four decades before passing away on April 30, 1997 after a three-year battle with cancer ... is recognized as one of college hockey's radio broadcasting pioneers ... was the play-by-play voice of Bulldog Hockey on KDAL-Radio for 28 seasons (1960-88) and UMD football for nealry a decade ... held the post of sports director at KDLH-TV in Duluth from 1958 to his retirement in 1994 and handled the broadcast duties of UMd hockey for that station during the 1985-86 season ... served a 32-year stint as the Minnesota Vikings' public address announcer (1965-96).
