(1958-61)

Started four years at both offensive and defensive tackle for the Bulldogs ... was chosen to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Conference Team three times (second team in 1959 and first team in 1960 and 1961) and attained NAIA All-American second team status as a senior ... played an integral part in the Bulldogs' MIAC championship crusades in 1960 and 1961 ... served as an alternate team captain with the 1961 Bulldogs and was the winner of UMD's Most Valuable Lineman Award that year ... received professional tryouts with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1962) of the Canadian Football League and the Minnesota Vikings (1963) ... began a lengthy high school football coaching career in 1963 which included stints in Hazel Park, MI, and Edina, MN ... spent 11 seasons as the head coach at Edina/Edina East High School ... also was an assistant track coach at those same schools ... is now retired from the teaching profession ... earned a B.S. degree in physical education in 1963 and a Master's degree in that same field of study from Eastern Michigan University three years later ... is a native of Gilbert, Minn.
