Football Quarterback/Wide Receiver/Defensive Back (1965-68)

Lettered four years in both basketball and football ... Finished first among the basketball Bulldogs in points per game average as a senior captain en route to landing UMD’s Most Valuable Player Award ... Caught a team-leading 14 passes for 203 yards in 1968 and was second on the club with 247 passing yards ... Was named UMD’s Outstanding Senior Athlete for 1968-69 ... Spent nine years in the prep boy’s basketball coaching ranks (Minnesota's Tower-Soudan High School from 1969-76 and Texas's South Houston High School from 1978-80) ... Served as San Jacinto College’s assistant coach from 1980-87 ... Took over the head coaching duties at San Jacinto College in 1987-88 and has since compiled a 542-128 record overall record (an .809 wining percentage) while directing the Ravens to eight NJCAA Division I National Tournament appearances, including runnerup finishes in both 1997 and 2003 ... Helped produce a number of future professional hoopsters, including NBA All-Stars Sam Cassell and Steve Francis ... Is an eight-time Region 14 Coach of the Year honoree ... Was inducted into the National Junior College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007 ... Graduated from UMD in 1969 with a B.S. degree in physical education and received his Master's degree in education from the University of Minnesota in 1980 ... Is a native of Duluth and a Denfeld High School alumnus.
