The University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team had two current players and three former Bulldogs invited to the 2022 USA Hockey Women's National Festival, which will take place August 8-13 at the LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo, N.Y.

Gabbie Hughes and junior forward
Clara Van Wieren were both named to the roster, along with recently graduated forward
Anna Klein, Sydney Brodt and goaltender
Maddie Rooney.
In all, 116 athletes were invited. The 2022 U.S. Women's National Team, along with the U.S. Under-18 Select Team and Collegiate Select Team will be named at the conclusion of camp. The National Team will compete at the IIHF Women's World Championship in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark Aug. 25 – Sept. 5, while the select teams will head to Calgary and each play a three-game series against Canada on Aug. 17, 18 and 20.
Hughes, coming off one of the most prolific offensive seasons in over a decade for UMD, is one of eight players invited that will be unable to participate.

Laura Bellamy recently worked as a camp coach in the Select U-18 USA Hockey Camp in St. Cloud, Minn., an evaluation camp for the USA National Festival.
