The University of Minnesota Duluth track and field teams had an electric start to their dual meet weekend at the University of Minnesota State Mankato's Bearson Gathje Classic this afternoon in Mankato, Minn.

The day was chock full of personal best performances for the Bulldogs, listed at length down below.

On the men's side, junior Jaden Johnson led the way with his first place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.96m. Success on the track followed in the 800m, with fifth-year Owen Dickenson placing second with a time of 1:56.84.Â

Two big runner-up performances on the women's side came from fifth-year Madeline Verkerke in the mile (5:04.95), and Kate Fitzgerald in the 400m, with a time of 59.12. Both were personal bests.Â

The Bulldog women claimed another second place finish in the women's 4x400m relay, in a time of 4:03.48. The team consisted of Megan Gilles, Emily Bastian, Avary Fitzpatrick, and Fitzgerald.Â
