The University of Minnesota Duluth indoor track and field teams claimed plenty of meet records, first place finishes, and even a couple school records today at the fourth annual Maday Classic.
The school records came from both the men's and women's 4x200m teams. The women's team of Hailey Hollar, Kate Fitzgerald, Allysah Larson, and Jordan Grell took first place with a time of 1:44.03, and the men's team of Brady Johnson, Brock Unger, Cole Brisbois, and Reid Olson also ran their way to the top of the podium in a time of 1:30.02. Both performances were also meet and facility records.
The women's 4x200m squad of A. Fitzpatrick, S. Burke, L. Root, and B. Silloway also finished with a runner-up placing (1:46.85).
The men's 4x1600m relay was won by O. Dickenson, M. Kvaal, N. Foster, J. Van Kempen in a time of 17:42.17, and a team of S. Schley, E. Hanowski, R. Ulrich, and C. Becker also snagged the women's 4x400m relay in a time of 4:13.47.
Additionally, much success was found individually on both the track and field.
Freshman Hailey Hollar and Junior Emily Anderson claimed first and second in the women's 60m with times of 7.83 (meet record), and 7.96, respectively.
Freshman Billy Auvin took first in the men's 400m with a meet record setting time of 50.07 while freshman Connor Bialka ran a PR time of 4:30.67 to take second in the men's mile.
Fifth year Jack Van Kempen swept the men's 1000m field in a meet record time of 2:38.04, while fellow fifth year Owen Dickenson went on to claim first in the men's 800m (1:57.98).
In the women's 800m, senior Savannah Schley took first with a meet record time of 2:14.91, while sophomore Rachel Ulrich was just behind with a provisional qualifying time of 2:15.38.
Over in the pit, sophomore Lillian Wanzek took first in the women's long jump with a meet record mark of 5.19m, while sophomore Emily Bastian claimed second in the women's 400m with a time of 1:01.15.
The Bulldog women also dominated in the triple jump, with the pair of sophomore Erin Steinman and freshman Allysah Larson going one and two in the pit with marks of 11.39m (meet record), and 10.62m respectively.
The same momentum continued over on the track for the women's 200m, where freshman Avary Fitzpatrick snagged a PR first with a time of 26.40, and sophomore Brooke Silloway nabbed second in 27.21.
More great news came from the women's high jump, with freshman Sophie Mahnke taking first with a PR and meet record setting mark of 1.62m. Freshman Annaka Bogenholm went on to grab a runner up finish in the women's shot put with a toss of 12.29m.
The Bulldogs will look to pick up where they left off next weekend at the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open.
