NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks were reached by five different University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs at the two-day Jack Johnson Classic, which wrapped up Saturday at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
That quintet included sophomore
Emilee Trost, who placed second to North Dakota State University's Erin Teschuk in the mile run with a school-record time of 4:49.54 (the previous standard of 4:50.31 was set by
Samantha Rivard during her national title conquest at the NCAA II Indoor Track and Field Championships). Senior
Hannah Olson came in fourth in that same event and her clocking (4:58.00) currently ranks 10th in the country while Trost sits at No. 2. Junior
Breanna Colbenson in the 3,0000-meter run (sixth place; 9:58.22), freshman
Danielle Kohlwey in the 60-meter hurdles (sixth place; 8.92) and senior
Chanel Miller in the pentathlon (ninth place; 3,428 points -- the 12th highest total in th NCAA II ranks this season) rounded out the list of UMD's NCAA II provisional qualifiers from the weekend.
A selected number of Bulldogs were in Menomonie, Wis., for Saturday's Warren Bowlus Open and among the UMD highlights was a second-place finish from senior Erick Seidenkranz, who finished second and completed the 28-runner racd in 5:14.99.
UMD will take a short trek to the College of St. Scholastica campus this Saturday (Feb. 6) to compete in the Lake Superior Challenge.
