Scott Perunovich had himself quite a November and the University of Minnesota Duluth defenseman was recognized for his efforts by being selected the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Month.
In seven games during November, Perunovich generated six points on one goal and five assists. The Hibbing, Minn., native, had the second best scoring total and plus-minus rating (+3) of any NCHC freshman blueliner over that stretch and also blocked 10 shots. Perunovich marked in the points column in five of the seven games during the month (the only two times he was blanked came when UMD was shut out).
Perunovich, who currently ranks second among all NCAA rookie defensemen in scoring with a team-leading 12 points, is now a candidate for the Hockey Commissioners' Association (HCA) National Rookie of the Month for November, which will be announced later this week.
