BULLDOGS LOOK TO EXTEND WIN STREAK INTO POSTSEASON AGAINST CONCORDIA

The University of Minnesota Duluth brings a four-game winning streak into the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament and will look to right one of the more frustrating defeats of the 2013-14 season when the Bulldogs travel down interstate 35 to take on Concordia University, St. Paul.

Third-seed Concordia St. Paul (21-8, 16-6 NSIC) knocked off the Bulldogs 95-63 in St. Paul on Jan. 3 earlier this season. Like UMD, the Golden Bears closed the regular season with a weekend sweep, defeating Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls each by 20-point margins. Junior Anika Whiting leads CU, averaging 17.7 points per game on the season, good for third in the NSIC. She had just 11 points against the Bulldogs, with junior Ameisha Kearney and senior Rachel Hansen taking the reins, combining for 43 points. Kearney has been key from outside, averaging almost two three-pointers per game and was five-of-seven from beyond the arc against UMD.

Senior Hannah Rutten and Kat Newman came off the bench for the Bulldogs as the lone players to hit double-figures scoring for UMD. Rutten had seven rebounds, all on the defensive end, while Meyer collected a game-high nine boards on the night.

Opening tip of this rematch is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Ganglehoff Center in St. Paul. The winner advances to the quarterfinals against the winner of Wednesday's Minot State/Upper Iowa match-up. The Bulldogs split two meetings with the Beavers this season and defeated the Peacocks in the first of its four-straight victories to close the regular season.
