WILDCATS GO UNTAMED AS UMD FALLS TO NO. 24 WAYNE STATE

The University of Minnesota Duluth could not continue its three-game home winning streak as the No. 24-ranked Wayne State (Neb.) College rolled to a 91-53 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference interdivisional victory at Romano Gymnasium on Friday evening.

UMD (7-8, 5-6 NSIC) shot just 31.1 percent as Wayne State (14-3, 8-3 NSIC) continued its roll through the NSIC, shooting 59.3 percent on the night.

HIGHLIGHTS
• The Bulldogs emptied the bench in second half, led by five players notching six points, including junior forward Taylor Meyer who hauled in a team-high seven rebounds. Sophomores Kenzie Kane and  Allyson Harris each netted six points off the bench for UMD as 11 Bulldogs scored at least a basket.
• Seven players reached double digits scoring for Wayne, led by senior forward Millie Niggeling's 13. Freshman forward Paige Ballinger collected the game's only double-double with 10 points and 14 boards off the bench, 13 on the defensive end.

A quiet first half that saw UMD shoot just 23.1 percent doomed the Bulldogs on the night as the Wildcats went 15-of-30 from the floor, collecting a 40-18 halftime lead. Wayne State only heated up from there, hitting eight three-pointers in the second half, quickly building on their lead and putting UMD out of reach. The Wildcats finished with 14 threes on the night.
