The University of Minnesota Duluth traded leads throughout the opening half but saw the University of Mary pull ahead and away with a second-half surge to knock off the Bulldogs 83-72 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Saturday evening.
UMD (9-9, 7-7 NSIC) starts its four-game road trip with a split after yesterday's win, while U-Mary (8-12, 6-8 NSIC) continues to stay alive in a tight NSIC North Division.

Taylor Meyer collected a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds, seven on the offensive end. Senior guard
Jessica Newman continued to put up big numbers with 21 points, including 4-of-9 from three-point range. Senior guard

• Brittney Deitz scored 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 9-of-12 from the free throw line. A pair of Marauders collected double-doubles as Sloan Turner hauled in 18 rebounds with 16 points, and Hannah Larson added 13 with 14 points.
Nearly even through the first half, UMD took a 41-39 lead to the break, but saw U-Mary come out of the locker room firing. The Marauders pulled ahead quickly thanks to a Hannah Larson and-one and would break the game open with a 16-4 run that eventually would build to a 15-point lead late in the game at 81-66 before the Bulldogs chipped away to pull back within 11, but unfortunately, it was too late for UMD.
A steep rebounding edge - 51-36 - in favor of the Marauders told the story as UMD finished with 80 shot attempts but scored on just 26, The Bulldogs hauled in 22 offensive rebounds, but gave up 39 to U-Mary's defense. UMD shot just 32.5 percent on the night compared to an even 60.0 percent for the Marauders, who were efficient from the floor and from three, where they shot 45.5 percent.
