UMD OPENS NSIC PLAY SATURDAY HOSTING ST. CLOUD STATE

The University of Minnesota Duluth will look for the elusive first victory of the Bulldog career of head coach Mandy Pearson this weekend as the team enters Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play hosting St. Cloud State University on Saturday afternoon.

UMD (0-3) was tripped up twice at the Lake State Classic, hosted by Lake Superior State University, last weekend, falling to the host Lakers 57-46 on Sunday afternoon and against Northern Michigan University 60-55 on Saturday evening.

10204St. Cloud State will host South Dakota School of Mines & Technology on Wednesday night before traveling to Duluth this weekend ... the Huskies also went winless over the weekend at the Fort Hays State University tournament, falling 87-52 to Pittsburg State University last time out ... SCSU returns a 2014-15 All-NSIC Second Team selection in senior forward Lexy Petermann who has averaged 6.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game ... senior forward Karissa LeCaptain leads the Huskies averaging 11.5 points per game and shooting 57.1 percent on the young season ... head coach Lori Fish is in her eighth season leading the Huskies ... UMD owns a 27-24 all-time record against St. Cloud State including a 75-74 victory last time out in Romano Gym on Dec. 20, 2014 ... the teams will meet Saturday in Duluth and on December 19 in St. Cloud this season.

Junior center Allyson Harris averaged 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds last weekend week, shooting 48.3 percent (14-29) for the Bulldogs ... Harris collected five blocks on the week, out-performing the combined efforts of the Bulldogs' two opponents (four) ... first-year forward Emma Boehm scored 10 points in both games on the week and freshman guard Samantha Kozlowski scored 8.0 and 6.0 rebounds on the week ... Kozlowski continued to expand her role, scoring a team-high 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds in Sunday's game against Lake Superior State.
