The University of Minnesota Duluth wrapped up the 2015 season Saturday morning with a 13th-place finish at the 27-team NCAA Division II Central Regional in Joplin, Mo.
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference colleague Augustana University won the 8K event, which was held at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course and hosted by Missouri Southern State University, with a team score of 82 points. UMD (327 points) got its top individual placing from sophomore
Henry Jessen, who was 42nd among 176 runners with a time of 31:57.03. Four other sophomores picked up points for the Bulldogs including
Grant Pulver (55th place; 32:06.39),
Cody Sedbrook (63rd; 32:15.96),
Josh Peterson (72nd; 32:28.93) and
Blake Anderson (95th; 33:01.23). Junior
Ben Hanson (123rd; 33:44.69) and sophomore
Alex Naughton (156th; 35:16.02) were the other two Bulldog entrants in Joplin.
"Overall I was please with the day we had," said UMD head coach
Paul Nisius. "I told the team prior to the meet that I expected us to finish somewhere between 300 to 325 points so we were right in the ballpark. We were fifth out of 13 NSIC schools and that's kind of where I thought we'd be."
