UMD DOMINATES U-MARY, STILL ALIVE FOR NSIC FIRST ROUND HOME COURT

  ?
The University of Minnesota Duluth remained alive in the race for home court in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference postseason tournament, dominating the University of Mary 73-40 at Romano Gymnasium.

UMD (12-13, 10-11 NSIC) will need to win tomorrow afternoon and have the University of Minnesota, Crookston lose to sneak past the Golden Eagles for the fourth seed, as St. Cloud State University won tonight to claim one home court spot. U-Mary (9-18, 7-14  NSIC), already out of contention, awaits tomorrow's decision to find out where it will go in the first round.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Sophomore forward Kenzie Kane led the way for the Bulldogs with 13 points off the bench, while sophomore center Allyson Harris netted 12 points stepping into the starting line-up for just the sixth game this season. Her eight rebounds were also a team-high, with freshman forward Anna Monke not far behind with seven.

Senior guard Shauni Payeur heaved a desperation three as the shot clock struck zero, putting the Bulldogs up 33 with 4:22 remaining. She'd hit another three later in the game to finsih with a career-high six points off the bench for UMD. The unlikely score told the story for the Bulldogs, who opened the game up in the first half with a 20-2 run including an eight-minute, 15-point run before the Marauders netted the final points of the half. After shooting 31.4 percent in the first half, the Bulldogs were 7-of-15 from three-point range after the break, finishing the game at 34.8 percent. U-Mary shot 23.6 percent for the game, scoring just 3-of-20 three-point attempts.
