BULLDOGS HEAD OUT ON LONGEST ROAD TRIP OF NSIC SEASON THIS WEEKEND

The University of Minnesota Duluth won its first road game of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference season and moved to 2-2 in its last four after a weekend split in the first leg of a four-game road trip. The Bulldogs will head out on their longest trip of the NSIC campaign this week.

UMD (4-9, 4-6 NSIC) takes on Wayne State (Neb.) College and Augustana (S.D.) University in a pair of interdivisional match-ups against the NSIC South.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS | 9-6, 6-4 NSIC
5104Wayne State has won four straight since the turn of the year after stopping a three-game skid into the holiday break ... the Wildcats knocked off Concordia-St. Paul 78-68 last time out in St. Paul ... sophomore forward Paige Ballinger leads WSC offensively scoring 14.6 points per game while shooting 52.7 percent and grabbing a team-high 6.5 rebounds per outing ... another sophomore forward, Maggie Schulte averages 13.5 points per game for the Wildcats ... Wayne State is 7-1 at home this season under eighth-year head coach Chris Kielsmeier ... UMD owns a 12-10 record all-time against Wayne State but fell 91-53 against the Wildcats last season on Jan. 16, 2015.

14479Augustana also enters the weekend on a winning streak, taking three-straight since falling to Sioux Falls in the first game of the new year ... the Vikings will host St. Cloud State on Friday night before UMD comes to town ... four players average 10+ points per game for Augie, led by senior forward Nicole Kerkhoff, who was named NSIC South Player of the Week this past Monday ... Kerkhoff averages 11.9 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game ... senior guard Sophie Kenney averages 10.8 points and 4.6 assists per game ... Augustana is also 7-1 at home this year led by Dave Krauth in his 26th season ... the Vikings own a 16-9 all-time record against UMD, knocking off the Bulldogs 100-57 last season in the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament on Feb. 25, 2015.

FREE THROWS
UMD picked up its first road win of the season, knocking off Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon, but could not complete the weekend sweep against Minnesota Crookston on Sunday ... junior center Allyson Harris averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds on the week to lead the Bulldogs offensively, shooting 58.3 percent from the floor ... freshman guard Sammy Kozlowski continued to be a go-to scorer from beyond the arc, hitting 5-of-10 threes and averaging 9.5 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds on the weekend ... Saturday's win over BSU marked the second time this season the Bulldogs had won without multiple 10-point scorers though senior guard Taylor Dillinger and sophomore forward Anna Monke each finished with nine-point efforts.

The teams will return to the regular NSIC schedule as UMD and Wayne State hit the court on Friday night in Wayne, Nebraska. Opening tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
