In its most lopsided game yet, the University of Minnesota Duluth forced a season-high 22 turnovers in its 69-48 win over Minot State University.
With just one lead change throughout the game, coming at 7:54 in the first quarter, the Bulldogs went on a 15-2 run to close up the first quarter and never looked back. UMDÂ (8-4; 7-2 NSIC) picked up its third win in a row Saturday night as it took a 17-6 lead into the second quarter against Minot State (3-12; 1-8 NSIC).
The Beavers struggled right out of the gate, garnering 10 turnovers in as many minutes to start the game while shooting just 3-7 in the first quarter. Senior forward
Allyson Harris led the way in the first half, scoring a team-high eight points on 2-2 shooting and going a perfect 4-4 from the line. Harris would finish the game with 10 points and maintained perfection at the line, going 6-6. Senior guard
Jenna Orr scored a season-high 13 points on 6-7 shooting while adding a rebound and an assist to her stat line. Playing in her third game of the season, junior forward
Allison Olley knocked down her first basket, finishing with three points.Â
Senior guard Jessie Matthews found herself in a game for the first time this season, going 1-2 at the line and grabbing a rebound in two minutes of play. Matthews transferred from Saint Mary's University along with head coach
Mandy Pearson last season.
The Bulldogs will take on Division III University of Wisconsin-Superior (9-4; 5-0 UMAC) of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference in Romano Gymnasium on Tuesday (Jan. 3) at 11 a.m.
