The University of Minnesota Duluth scored a season-high 38 points in the paint to blow past the University of Minnesota Crookston, 65-53, en route to its fifth win in a row and third road win of the season. The Bulldogs are now 3-3 on the road after going just 3-11 in away games last season.
Behind a season-high 21 points from senior forward
Taylor Meyer, UMD (9-4; 7-2 NSIC) swept UMC (2-10; 2-6 NSIC) in regular season play as it accomplished something it hasn't done since the 2011-12 season; win five games in a row. The Bulldogs are now 32-2 all-time when facing the Golden Eagles.
UMD wrapped up the first quarter on a 10-0 run to jump out to an early 19-11 lead. The Bulldogs made the most of their second chances, scoring 10 of their 12 second-chance points in the first quarter. After shooting just 1-for-4 for two points in the first half, Meyer found her rhythm in the second half, finishing 10-for-22. Sophomore guard
Sammy Kozlowski once again found herself adding to her stat sheet, scoring seven points while picking up eight rebounds, four assists and nabbing three steals. In the previous eight games, Kozlowski averaged 3.5 assists per game. Over five game win-streak, Kozlowski has averaged 5.8 assists per game.
UMD will look to win six in a row as it faces Bemidji State University (3-9; 0-8 NSIC) on Saturday (Jan. 7) at 4 p.m. The Beavers will try to stop their eight-game losing skid.
