The University of Minnesota Duluth Women's basketball team continued its fast start to the season after beating the University of Sioux Falls 69-51 on Saturday. The Bulldogs 6-1 record is their best through the team's first seven games since 2004-05.
Entering the second quarter down 12-17, junior guard 
Sammy Kozlowski sparked a 9-0 run with a jumper at 9:38. The Bulldogs outscored the Cougars 16-2 before Cougars' head coach Travis Traphagen called a timeout with 4:13 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs would force 20 turnovers on the day; their fourth time this season making opponents turn the ball over 20-or-more times. 
Kozlowski finished the game with a career-high six steals, adding a game-high 17 points and seven assists. Collectively, UMD finished with 11 steals; its second time with double-digits steals in the last three games. The Bulldogs shot a season-best 51.7 percent from the floor tonight, and went 6-of-11 (54.5 percent) from beyond the arc. Sophomore forward 
Katie Stark scored 10 points on 5-of-9 (56 percent) shooting and a team-high six rebounds. UMD allowed USF to shoot just 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from deep, and has now kept opponents three-point shooting percentage under 28 percent for the sixth time this season.
 
UMD will look to continue its road success this season with a matchup against NSIC rivals St. Cloud State on Saturday (Dec. 16) at 2 p.m.
