THREE STARTERS HIT DOUBLE FIGURES WITH 73-65 WIN OVER MINNESOTA CROOKSTON

The University of Minnesota Duluth rebounded after a pair of road losses last weekend with a 73-65 win over the University of Minnesota Crookston. The Bulldogs had three starters in double figures as they kept the lead floating around 8-12 points in the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles had 23 points from Micaela Noga in the loss as they got swept in the season series. UMD is 31-5 in the all-time series and have won 17 of the last 18 meetings.

The Bulldogs, who defended the home floor again and is 5-0 at Romano Gymnasium, jumped to 5-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play and 8-5 overall. Minnesota Crookston dropped to 2-6 in league action and 2-10 overall.

Junior guard Sammy Kozlowski led the way with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Junior forward Katie Stark knocked down 13 points and had three steals and two blocks. Freshman forward Sarah Grow collected 10 points, six boards and a career high four blocks. Her four blocks was the most by a Bulldog since Dec. 5, 2015 when senior Allison Olley rejected four shots against Bemidji State University.

UMD led for over 32 minutes and it started right off the tip as freshman Ann Simonet nailed a three-pointer from the wing. Minnesota Crookston would lead only three times none more by two points on the evening. The Golden Eagles had the lead trimmed down to five with just under eight minutes to play after a jumper by freshman Abby Guidinger, the daughter of UMD Hall of Famer Jeff Guidinger.

The Bulldogs weren't fazed as the lead crawled back up towards double digits and junior forward Emma Boehm whirled home a shot from behind the arc to give UMD its biggest lead at 69-57 with 2:33 left.

For the game, they shot 48.4 percent and held the Golden Eagles to 38.9 percent from the field. The Bulldogs held their opponents under 40 percent for the seventh time this season and have yet to lose when holding them under that mark.

UMD is back in action tomorrow night versus Bemidji State University with the tip commencing at 4:00 p.m. The Bulldogs erased a six-point fourth-quarter deficit in their latest meeting against the Beavers back in December.
