Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

BEMIDJI STATE USES OVERTIME TO STUN NO. 6 BULLDOGS 1-0

There have been many great goaltender duels between the University of Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State University over the programs histories, and Friday night at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn. was no exception.

Unfortunately for the No. 6 Bulldogs, Beaver goaltender Kerigan Dowhy helped BSU get a 1-0 overtime win after the senior made a career-high 46 saves against UMD.  While UMD commanded the shots on goal category for the night 46-18, the Bulldogs also had another superb game from junior netminder Emma Soderberg, who made 17 saves in the contest in her own right.

UMD outshot the Beavers through regulation, but BSU found some some junmp in overtime, getting six shots on net to UMD's two.  That late push for the Beavers finally paid off when Mak Langei picked up a loose puck off the face-off.  Langei's shot tipped off a UMD stick and finally past Soderberg 2:23 into extra time to hand BSU the Western Collegiate Hockey Association win.

The Bulldogs (5-4) and Beavers (2-7-2) will finish up the series tomorrow afternoon at the Sanford Center.  Puck drop is slated for 4:07 p.m.

BULLDOG NOTES:  UMD has now been held scoreless in back-to-back games for the first time since Feb. 6-7, 2015, when the Bulldogs tied (0-0) and lost (0-5) to the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisc.
