Houghton, MI. – The No. 18 Bulldogs end their road trip as they faced off against the Michigan Tech Huskies. The Bulldogs used a second half surge to pull away from Michigan Tech to win the game 67-50.
The Bulldogs used a strong defensive showing in the first half as they were able to force 8 turnovers in the half and held the Huskies to under 40% shooting for the half. The Huskies also would not attempt a single free throw in the first half as well. Offensively, the Bulldogs used a balanced attack to take a 30-24 lead. The Bulldogs had 7 players score in the first half, led by
Maesyn Thiesen who had 8 points, including 2 threes in the first half. Both teams would struggle maintaining possession of the ball as the Bulldogs had 9 turnovers in the half while the Huskies had 8. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 12-27 (44.4%) from the field and 4-13 (30.8%) from three-point range. They also shot 2-2 from the free throw line. As for the Huskies, they would be led by Katelyn Meister in the first half as she led the Huskies with 8 points. Overall, the Huskies shot 11-28 (39.3%) from the field and 2-8 (25%) from three-point range.
In the second half, the Bulldogs offense would turn it on as they would outscore the Huskies 37-26 in the half. To begin the third quarter, teams would trade points to start the quarter. After the first three minutes, UMD began to pull away as they slowly built up their lead. The Bulldogs led by as many as 12 points in the quarter and ultimately took a 47-37 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs and Huskies would trade points during the first couple minutes. The Bulldogs eventually built their lead up to 20 points late in the quarter as the Bulldogs were able to break the Michigan Tech press and maintain their lead. The Bulldogs were able to pull away from the Huskies in the second half to win the game 67-50.

Brooke Olson who had a game high 17 points.
Maesyn Thiesen also added 14 points on the night while going 3-4 from three-point range.
Madelyn Granica led the Bulldogs with 6 rebounds while
Payton Kahl added 5 rebounds of her own. Thiesen tallied 4 assists on the night to lead the team. Overall, the Bulldogs shot 26-51 (51%) from the field while shooting 6-18 (33.3%) from three-point range. They also shot 9-10 (90%) from the free throw line.
The Huskies were led by Ellie Mackay who had 10 points on the night. Sara Dax added 8 rebounds on the night while Katelyn Meister added 3 assists to lead Michigan Tech. Overall, the Huskies struggled from the field as they shot 21-64 (32.8%) and 4-15 (26.7%) from three-point range. The Huskies also shot 4-4 from the free throw line.
