The No. 7/9 University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team finished off a successful weekend series with No. 2 Colgate University Saturday afternoon, securing a 1-1 tie at AMSOIL Arena.

The Bulldogs, who remain unbeaten against the Raiders all-time and are unbeaten in 11 games against ECAC opponents, got another brilliant game from sophomore goaltender Hailey MacLeod, who made 37 saves and played 119:17 minutes of shutout hockey on the weekend.
"I feel like everybody showed up, you know, there weren't any holes in the lineup in my opinion," said UMD head coach Maura Crowell, who is 3-0-1 at the helm of the Bulldogs in four outings against her alma mata. "I thought our defensive group took a big step this weekend, a lot of them logged a lot of minutes, but just like really sound hockey. We had second and third efforts on a lot of plays where you know, it might not be perfect but there's always somebody there, and that's our style, we have got people behind you to back you up. I thought we did a really good job of that, and getting comfortable playing in the d-zone."
Like Friday night, UMD broke open a scoreless game early in the second period. Just 2:23 into the frame, sophomore forward Jenna Lawry took a Danielle Burgen feed right down the slot and beat Colgate goaltender Kayle Osborne over the shoulder, but the puck hit the crossbar and dropped slightly wide of the crease. Enter Grace Sadura, who tracked down the rebound and slapped it home for the rookie forward's first goal of her career and the 1-0 UMD lead.
That Bulldog lead would hold until the final minute of regulation. With just 43.3 seconds left, the Raiders pulled their goaltender on the penalty kill and finally snuck a puck past MacLeod, ending her series shutout streak at 119:17.
Overtime ensued, with UMD landing the only three shots on goal in extra time, but the score held up as a 1-1 final.
MacLeod's 37 saves in the game brought her series total to an impressive 66 stops. Osborne had 20 saves for Colgate, who outshot the Bulldogs 38-21 in the game but will depart Duluth with an 13-2-1 overall record.
The Bulldogs are now 9-4-1 overall and will continue their four-week stretch of top-10 opponents when they travel to Madison Wis. next weekend to face the No. 3 University of Wisconsin. The Saturday-Sunday series gets underway in LaBahn Arena Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. puck drop.
