Box Score Picking up a series sweep and its sixth-straight win in the process, the No. 7/8 University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team shutout the University of St. Thomas 4-0 Saturday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena.

"I think it's great to get through these six games, you know, those are really must win games," Bulldog head coach Maura Crowell. "We didn't talk about it, but I just told them that in the locker room those are games that we had to win, and we got it done. Not always pretty, not perfect, we have work to do. But finding ways to win is really important. I thought our goaltending really helped us out in all of those games, especially this weekend."

The Bulldogs got an early goal from a consistent scorer 5:02 into the first frame when Mannon McMahon took a backhanded pass from Grace Sadura in the slot and walked across the goal and tucked it backhand behind Tommies goaltender Olivia King.Â

UMD went up 2-0 at 12:08 of the second period when the puck found its way out to junior defenseman Hanna Baskin just inside the point, Baskin's second tally of the season. A little under a minute and a half later, the Bulldogs expanded it to 3-0 on a goal from senior forward Olivia Wallin off a cross-crease feed from Reece Hunt at 13:41 of the frame. It was the third combination for the pair in the series, with both players working together for three points – Wallin a goal and two assists and Hunt with two goals and one assist.

The Bulldogs last goal came 13:49 into the third period, a rebound popped in by Mary Kate O'Brien for the goals final game, with assists credited to Hunt and senior defenseman Paula Bergstrom -- Bergstrom's first point as a Bulldog.

UMD posted its fourth shutout of the season and the third of the young career of Ève Gascon between the pipes. Gascon made 21 saves for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Tommies 29-21 the game.

The Bulldogs (8-2, 6-2) will have one week off from outside competition before hosting the No. 4 University of Minnesota at AMSOIL on Nov. 17-18.
