The University Of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team makes an early return to Romano Gymnasium to take on the No.25 Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks in a highly anticipated Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) matchup.

THE SEASON SO FAR
 
The Bulldogs currently sit at sixth place in the NSIC with an overall record 12-6 and a conference record of 9-5. Their weekend sweep of UM Crookston and Bemidji State keeps them within striking distance of a first round bye in the conference tournament, staying roughly one game behind Concordia St. Paul and UMary who are tied for fourth place.

The NSIC had their first team find the Top 25 national rankings last week since UMD dropped out in early December, with MSU Mankato moving into the No.25 spot. UMD remains the number one team in the conference in field goal percentage (44.4%) and remains top three in the conference in three other statistical categories, including: blocks per game (4.7), free throw percentage (73.9%), and three point percentage (33.7%).
 
SCOUTING REPORT - MANKATO
 
After moving up to No.25 in the national rankings, MSU Mankato sits at the top of the NSIC with an overall record of 16-4 and a conference record of 13-1. The Mavericks walk into this matchup on a 14 game win streak, with their last loss being against the Bulldogs 75-64 earlier this season. UMD is 12-4 against the Mavericks since the 2013-14 season.

Women's basketball will make a quick turn around and head out on the road to take on Augustana University and Wayne State College this weekend. The action for the Bulldogs will tip off on Friday, Feb. 2, at 5:30 PM.
