The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team adds a former rival to the bench, welcoming Ashley Gustavson to the coaching staff as an intern assistant coach for the 2024-25 season.
Gustavson spent the last year at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she spent her graduate year of eligibility playing for the Dragons.
Despite playing the entire season with a stress fracture in her foot, Gustavson played in all 29 games for the Dragons averaging 4.5 points per game with a 36.3 field goal percentage.
Gustavson was valuable in MSUM's late season run, scoring double figures in four of MSUM's final six games of the season, earning herself a CSC Academic All-District selection.
Before her time at Moorhead, Gustavson played four seasons for Wayne State College, seeing time in 69 total games for the Wildcats. In her senior season, she was second on the team in three-point field goal percentage (38.2) and had three games where scored in double figures, earning herself three NSIC All-Academic team nominations throughout her time at Wayne.
Throughout her time in college at MSUM and WSC, Gustavson held a double major in Finance and Computer Science.
The Bulldogs closed out the 2023-24 season with a 19-10 overall record and a 14-8 conference record, falling in the semifinal round of the NSIC tournament.
