Box Score The No. 16 University of Minnesota Duluth football team took a massive victory over the University of Jamestown Jimmies on Halloween, winning 50-3. The Bulldogs improve to 7-2 on the year and 7-1 in the NSIC, while the Jimmies fall to 0-9 and 0-8 in the NSIC.
UMD got the game going in the best possible way, with a quick three-and-out of Jamestown, followed by a 49-yard touchdown run by Alex Riley, capped off with a Ryder Patterson two-point conversion to get a quick 8-0 lead.
The defense ramped up on both sides, with three consecutive three-and-outs between the sides before the Bulldogs had a promising drive dashed with a pass tipped at the line for an interception. The quarter remained scoreless outside of Alex Riley's touchdown, but Jamestown got on the board early in the second with a short-range field goal making it 8-3.
The Bulldogs offense erupted afterward, starting with a big return by Brock Unger bringing UMD into Jimmies territory. Cameron Begalle got a 16-yard pass reception before Alex Riley got his second touchdown of the day with a 25-yard touchdown run, extending the Bulldogs lead to 12, 15-3.
The Jimmies couldn't respond on the following drive, and the Bulldogs got their third touchdown of the day, with a 20-yard touchdown rush by Zachary Welch. The Jimmies then fumbled on their next drive, with Ross Rivord getting the recovery for UMD. The Bulldogs would be set back on the following drive, but would score another touchdown before the end of half off of a tush push to get Riley Grossman into the endzone, giving the Bulldogs a 29-3 lead entering halftime.
UMD continued the offensive in the third quarter, with Nathan Litke getting a 29-yard touchdown reception, making it 36-3. Jamestown had a quick three-and-out, and the Bulldogs kept laying it on, with Zachary Welch getting his second touchdown of the game on a 47-yard touchdown run. The defense got a score of their own on the next drive, with back-to-back NSIC Defensive Player of the Week Jayce Walrath returning a fumble to the endzone for his second score in back-to-back games, and the first fumble recovery touchdown for UMD since Brian Konz's in 2023 against Minot State.
The Jimmies almost found the back of the endzone towards the end of the third, but offensive pass interference on the play took back a play that got them to within five yards of the endzone. The Jimmies would ultimately be stopped on downs on the drive.
Jamestown's offensive woes continued, getting stopped again late, with Chris King getting a big five-yard tackle for loss. The Bulldogs let the clock run down afterward, and the Bulldogs took home a big 50-3 win.
