The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team has been ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Central Region Rankings after being seeded in the field last week.
UMD is one of four Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) teams selected. The undefeated Minnesota State Unviersity Mankato ranks first, Concordia University St. Paul follows in fourth, and the University of Mary ranks 10th behind UMD.

The NSIC is one of three conferences to make up this central region field, with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and Great American Conference splitting the other six teams.
The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 13, 14 & 16. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.
