Two current University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey players -- Eve Gascon and Cailtin Kraemer -- will join former Bulldog All-American defenseman Ashton Bell and Jocelyne Larocque and assistant coach Caroline Ouellette for the 2026-27 Canadian National Women's Team Training Camp Roster, presented by BFL CANADA next week in Quebec, QC from October 8 through October 14. 


In all, 48 players were invited to camp, including six goaltenders, 16 defenders and 26 forwards. The players will be split into Red and White teams for practices, fitness testing and a pair of intrasquad games on Oct. 12 and 14 at the Centre Vidéotron. Following camp, a roster will be selected for the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship, starting Nov. 6 in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark, as well as pre-tournament games in Windsor, Ontario, and Plymouth, Michigan, on Oct. 28 and 30, respectively.


Kraemer and Gascon are coming off massive opening weekends for the Bulldogs, who swept and shutout then No. 14/15 Mercyhurst University by scores of 2-0 and 4-0. Gascon earned the 22nd and 23rd shutout of her career, tying her for the UMD program record of 23 with former All-American Emma Soderberg. The Mascouche, Quebec native stopped all 44 shots she faced in the series.


Kraemer scored three of the Bulldogs' six goals on the weekend, and factored in four of them with a three goal, one assist four point performance. With both the series' game-winning tallies, the Waterloo, Ontario product led the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in game-winners, as well as faceoffs -- the junior center was an impressive 39-12 from the dot for the Bulldogs against the Lakers.


Bell -- a 2022 Olympic gold medalist with Canada ... returns to Canada's camp after making the Rivalry Series roster in 2024-25. Currently playing for the PWHL Vancouver Goldeneyes, Bell has been in Canada's national team program on some level since 2016. Bell is one of 19 invitees to helped Canada to its most recent Women's Worlds gold medal in 2024. 


Larocque is a four-time Canadian Olympian who has won two gold medals and two silver medals over her Olympic career. Named to 11 IIHF Women's World Championship rosters (and a three-time gold medalist), Larocque has been a part of Canada's National Team program at some level since 2006. Larocque is one of 18 players rostered who won a silver medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. 


Ouellette, a four-time Olympic gold medalist with Canada, is in her fifth season as an assistant coach with Canada. Ouellete was also a six-time world champion with Canada and is currently an assistant coach with the PWHL's Montreal Victoire.
