AS A BULLDOG: Handled UMD’s punting duties for the first time in 2011 ... averaged 35.9 yards per punt last fall and placed just under 38 percent of his kicks (18 of 48) inside the opposition’s 20-yard line ... was chosen the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week after turning in a 44.7 yard average and nailing a career-best 62-yarder in a 37-6 NSIC win over visiting Northern State on Oct. 22 ... his 2011 resume also included a NSIC All-Academic Team citation ... served as third-year regular Alex Miller’s understudy two seasons ago and accrued no field time ... underwent shoulder surgery that winter ... was redshirted as a first-year freshman in 2009.
