Biography
2021-2022: Will serve as a captain for her fifth season at UMD.
2020-2021: The assistant captain earned her way into both a USCHO Third Team All-American selection and All-WCHA Second Team honors after leading the Bulldogs almost the entire season in scoring with 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points 19 games...ranked fifth in the NCAA with a 1.31 points per game average that also ranked her tied for third in the WCHA... led the nation with two shorthanded goals and tied for third in the WCHA with three game-winning goals, and additionally put up multiple point games eight times... named the WCHA Forward of the Month for December, and was also the WCHA’s Forward of the Week for Dec. 4-11...named a American Hockey Coaches Association 2020-21 Division I Krampade All-American Scholar for a second time, she also became a three-time WCHA Scholar Athlete, as well as an All-WCHA Academic Team selection.
2019-2020: Put up the best numbers of her career as a junior, recording 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points in 36 skates ... had four multiple point games, as well as six game-winning points (2g, 4a) ... named s 2019-20 WCHA Scholar Athlete, her second consecutive year landing the academic honor ... selected both to the 2019-20 WCHA All-Academic Team, as well as to the American Hockey Association's 2019-20 Division I Krampada All-American Scholars list.
2018-2019: Chosen UMD's Breakthrough Player of the Year by the coaching staff, presented annually to the student-athlete who made the most progress in her development as an athlete in a given year for her remarkable sophmore season ... blossomed in her second year, compiling 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points in 35 games, which ranked her fourth on the team in scoring ... posted the third-highest plus/minus rating of +9, and had two game-winning goals and added a power play tally ... Twice ran up scoring streaks of four games, and was also named a 2018-19 WCHA Scholar Athlete, as well as a 2018-19 WCHA All-Academic Team member.
2017-2018: Skated in all 35 games for the Bulldogs her rookie season, posting five goals and two assists for seven points ... was named the WCHA's Rookie of the Week on Jan. 30 after scoring a career high two goals, including the game-winner against then No. 5 Ohio State on Jan. 21, 2018.
BEFORE UMD: Won a Minnesota State High School Tournament Class 2A title her senior season under the eye of former Bulldog assistant coach Sami Reber at Edina High School ... named to the 2017 All-State Team, as well as a 2017 Lake Conference All-Conference selection ... helped the Hornets to fourth place at the 2016 Minnesota State High School Tournament, picking up an All-Tournament Team nod for her efforts ... was a 2015-16 Lake Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention, and recorded 18 goals and 13 assists for 31 points in 30 skates ... a member of Edina's MSHS Tournament's third place squad as a sophomore, Klein is also a two-time All-State lacrosse player in the midfield for the Hornets ... also a starting midfielder on the soccer pitch for the past two seasons, Klein was a 2015-16 All-Conference selection for Edina.
PERSONAL: Born Anna Michelle Klein in on October 12, 1998 in Edina, Minnesota ... daughter of Billy and Michelle Klein ... has one brother (CJ) ... graduated from Edina High School in 2017 ... is a biology major at UMD.
