Biography
BULLDOG CAREER:
2020-21 (Senior): Started in all 16 of the Bulldog contests in 2021 averaging 27.1 minutes per game. Served as the post presence for the Bulldogs on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Averaged 9.4 (T-2nd) points per game on 67-148 (45.3%) shooting from the field. Shot 17-21 (81%) from the charity stripe. Recorded the second most rebounds per game on the team (5.9). Led the Bulldogs in blocks per game (2.1). Eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for her Bulldog career against Bemidji State on 2/13/21. Was named to her third All-NSIC Second Team honor and second All-NSIC Defensive Team honor. Will use NCAA eligibility waiver to return for a fifth season.Â
2019-20 (Junior): Grow had another fantastic year for the Bulldogs, and that year was recognized with Grow being named to the All-NSIC second team and the All-NISC Defensive team. Grow was a solid all around player all season for the Bulldogs, averaging 10.2 points a night will playing in 25.8 minutes. Grow was able to grab 5.2 rebounds a game, which sat T-25th in the NSIC. She dished out 32 assists on the season and blocked 1.9 per game, which finished second in the NSIC. She finished the year shooting .476 from the floor.
2018-19 (Sophomore): Selected to the All-NSIC second team • awarded NSIC Player of the Week on Dec. 17, 2018 • attained NSIC All-Academic honors and received the NSIC Academic Team of Excellence Award • started and played in all 29 games, recording 763 minutes and averaging 26.3 minutes per game • was second on the team with 329 points • led the team with 71 blocked shots and 165 total rebounds • averaged 11.3 points , 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots as a sophomore.
2017-18 (Freshman): Bestowed to the NSIC All-Freshman Team • averaged 9.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 0.9 assists as the starting center for the Bulldogs • played in all 27 games and started in all but one contest and clocked 26.1 minutes per game • was second in the team in scoring and UMD's top rebounder • her 21 points against Winona State was the most scored by a Bulldog all season • started the season with her first double-double on 12 points and a career high 13 rebounds • had five blocks in regular season finale versus MSU Moorhead • was seventh in the NSIC in blocked shots per game • compiled a season high five double-doubles • finished the season shooting 50.2 percent, the best mark among her teammates.
BEFORE UMD: A 2017 graduate of Centennial High School • was bestowed the St. Paul Area Athena Award • recognized with All-Northwest Suburban Conference honors in sophomore, junior, and senior seasons • named team captain her final two seasons • holds the single game (9), single season (86), and career block records for the Cougars • competed on the Centennial swim team and earned All-Northwest Suburban Conference Honors on four occasions • was a state participant for basketball for two years and four years in swimming.
PERSONAL: Born Sarah Grow in Circle Pines, Minn. • is the daughter of Chris and Ruth Grow • has two older brothers, Kevin who played basketball at Carleton College and Ryan who is a grad student at UMD • participated in National Honor Society, in-house basketball coaching, and elementary school mentoring • granddaughter of Norm Grow, the late Minnesota high school basketball legend and former Minnesota Golden Gopher player • majoring in public health at UMD.
