GETTING TO KNOW BRAYDON KUBAT:
Why I Chose UMD: I instantly fell in love with the city of Duluth years ago when my family first started coming up for Grandma’s Marathon weekend. I also came to Duluth for the Engineering programs at UMD.
Influences On My Athletic Career: My mother has had a huge influence on my athletic career over the years. She is the one that put me in my first 5K when I was in 7th grade and I instantly fell in love with running. My high school coach, Dave Chatelaine, has also been a huge inspiration on my athletic career. He taught me to have pride in the town and team that you represent. My work ethic and discipline stem from his dedication to my development as a student and athlete.
What Most People Don't Know About Me: I used to race BMX and was a State Champion in my age division in 2014.
Pre-Meet Ritual or Superstition: Before a race, I always take a knee at some point in my warm-up strides and say a little prayer. It calms me down and gets me focused on the race.
Favorite Professional Athlete: Cristiano Ronaldo
Sport I'd Like to Try Someday: Rugby

Years Lettered/Competed with Varsity: Lettered 3 years in Cross country and 3 years in Track / XC competed varsity Soph-Senior, Track competed varsity Fresh-Senior.
High School Highlights: (1) XC All Conference-Honorable mention, (2) XC All Conference, XC 2nd place runner-up finish in Big 9 Conference, XC All-Conference scholar, 2016 XC State participant/ Track (1) All conference-Honorable mention, 2017 true team section 1AA 3200m champion, Section 1AA 3200m runner-up, 2017 State 1AA 3200m participant
