Biography
Returns to the Bulldogs in 2022-23 with seventh most career saves (1,231), fifth-best saves percentage (.932), eighth most wins (33) and fifth most shutouts (11).
2021-22: Added to her already historic career, posting a NCAA Tournament record 146 saves over four games and 277:38 of action to help backstop the Bulldogs into their first NCAA Championship game in 12 seasons ... went 3-1, including one shutout in the NCAA postseason, and had a 1.08 goals against average, in addition to a .957 saves percentage, and for her NCAA Frozen Four heroics, which included a career-high 46 saves in double-overtime in the semifinal win, was named to the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team ... named the Hockey Commissioners Association's National Goaltender of the Month for March ... named the WCHA's Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 17, 2022 ... finished the season -- which was interrupted by a brilliant Olympic debut in net for Sweden in mid-January -- with five shutouts and a 17-8-0 overall record to go with a .925 saves percentage ... posted the 10th most wins (17) in a single season, as well as the fifth most shutouts (5) ... was both a WCHA Scholar Athlete and WCHA All-Academic Team member for a third consecutive season ... in four games between the pipes for Sweden in the Olympics, she posted a 1.77 GAA and .951 saves percentage, making 137 saves.
2020-2021: Had one of the best seasons by a UMD goaltender in recent memory, and her selection as UMD's Breakthrough Player of the Year by the coaching staff backed that up...selected both a USCHO Second Team All-American and a 2020-21 CCM/AHCA Women's University Division Ice Hockey All-American -- the first Bulldog goaltender to earn that title since 2007-08...was ranked in the top-two in the NCAA in at least three categories for almost the entire season, and finished the year with a 1.56 GAA and .944 saves percentage -- only one goaltender that played in more than 10 games had a higher saves percentage...tied for the second most shutouts in the nation (6) and cleaned up every WCHA honor available, ending with the WCHA Goaltender of the Year and All-WCHA First Team honors...named the WCHA's 2020-21 Goaltending Champion and was a three-times named the WCHA Goaltender of the Month...2020-21 Division I Krampada All-American Scholar list
2019-2020:  Played in four games for 107:14 total minutes ... posted a 1-0 record and 1.12 GAA, as well as a .960 on 48 saves in 50 shots ... earned 2019-20 WCHA Scholar Athlete honors, as well as 2019-20 WCHA All-Academic Team membership ... also earned a spot on the American Hockey Association's 2019-20 Division I Krampada All-American Scholars list.
2018-2019:  Manned the pipes for five games as a rookie, going 3-1-0 in those skates ... stopped 94 of 103 shots and earned a .913 saves percentage, as well as a 2.09 GAA.
BEFORE UMD: Spent the 2017-18 season with MODO Hockey of the Swedish Women's Hockey League, along with former Bulldogs Michela Cava and recently minted U.S. Olympic gold medalist Sidney Morin ... posted a 1.55 GAA and a .940 saves percentage in 19 games with MODO last season ... manned the pipes twice for the U-18 Sweden National Team in both the 2016 World Junior Championships and the 2015 World Championships ... backstopped the U-18 Swedish side to a WJC bronze medal after posting a 1.75 GAA and .933 saves percentage in four international skates, and was named the tournament's Best Goaltender for her efforts ... nabbed a spot on the 2016 WJC All-Star Team, as well as a Top-3 Player on Team honor that she repeated from the 2015 tournament ... won a gold medal with Stalbucklan in both 2013-14 and 2012-13, and was named the Best Goaltender in 2012-13 ... she also earned Best GAA honors (0.48GAA) in 2013-14, as well as Best SVS% (.967) ... will become the 11th Swedish player to join the Bulldog program all-time.
PERSONAL:  Born Emma Martine Söderberg in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden on February 18, 1998 ... daughter of Ove and Karin Söderberg ... has one older brother (Oskar) ... graduated from Nolaskolan in 2018 ... is a business major.
