2022-23 UMD Athletics Year in Review

The UMD athletic department has developed and devised a comprehensive strategic plan and is pleased to announce Bulldogs 2025:
A Vision for the Future of UMD Intercollegiate Athletics.  

This comprehensive plan maps out the objectives and goals of Bulldog Athletics while concurrently supporting and enriching the University of Minnesota Duluth's institutional strategic plan and mission.

Bulldogs 2025 is an outline of how the department will strengthen the infrastructure to fulfill the Bulldog mission of sustaining the highest levels of Excellence in the Classroom, Community and Competition. 

Early in the strategic planning process a sub-committee comprised of four student-athletes representing six varsity programs reviewed and articulated the values of Bulldog Athletics as detailed below. These principles support the Department's priorities of excellence in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, and Community: which highlight the Bulldog Athletics core objectives and goals, providing a blueprint for producing student athletes well prepared for life by concentrating on mission based decisions.

Great progress has already been made in the early phases of this plan.  These have included extensive facility enhancements, operational improvements and fund raising success. The top priority for Bulldog Athletics 2025 is to dramatically increase athletic scholarship support for all 16 programs while advancing exceptional facilities and overall support for our impressive 400 student athletes.

By following our mission and organizational best practices in day to day operations and decision making, the Bulldog Athletics 2025 Plan focuses the Department on the objectives outlined. Directing steadfast donor support and engaged sponsors toward the defined goals will concentrate the efforts of advancing the Bulldog program toward the ultimate student athlete experience.

Bulldog Athletics is one of the strongest NCAA DI/DII collegiate programs in the country and aspires to be the nation's best. This plan will serve as a guide for continued excellence and reaching superior heights.
