covid update

In accordance with the temporary COVID-19 restrictions  announced Friday, January 14 by the University of Minnesota System, all fans ages five (5) and older attending University of Minnesota events (including those held in Duluth) will either need to provide proof of a completed vaccination series against COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken under medical supervision within 72 hours of entry (includes events at Romano Gymnasium and AMSOIL Arena) starting January 26th - February 9th. COVID booster shots are not required. Also, in accordance with the city of Duluth, masks are required at all Bulldog events at this time.

Our fans' safety and their gameday experience remain paramount, and the Bulldogs will work closely with campus groups as well as the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) to make the process as smooth as possible for our fans. Please see below for more information on the mandate and a brief FAQ.

All UMD athletic event season ticket holders and purchasers who purchased tickets through UMD, can refer to the Bulldog Ticket Assurance plan for additional COVID-19 questions.

Bulldog Athletics Ticket Assurance Plan – Season ticket holders and ticket purchasers who have purchased tickets directly through the UMD Ticket Office will have the option to receive a refund, have a credit towards a future ticket purchase, or donate the amount of their ticket purchase to UMD athletics.

For additional questions and information see the University of Minnesota COVID-19 stay safe website.

The Bulldogs encourage all attendees to receive a test for weekend games no earlier than Wednesday of game week. Due to testing constraints and demand, attendees are encouraged to receive rapid antigen tests for those that will not be providing proof of vaccination.

Please see below for a list of local testing locations:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What qualifies as proof of vaccination?
Individuals can show their CDC-approved vaccination card or a photo of their vaccination card, along with a photo ID with a matching name. Individuals can also use Docket or other government approved services that provide copies of medical records, in concert with a photo ID with a matching name, to verify their vaccination status. A matching photo ID is not required for guests under age 18.

What qualifies as proof of a negative COVID-19 test result?
Those who will not be providing proof of vaccination must instead provide a copy (email, printout or screenshot) of a third-party test that shows a negative result on a sample collected in the 72 hours prior to entry, along with a photo ID with a matching name. A matching photo ID is not required for guests under age 18. At-home, self-read tests do not meet this requirement

How does this apply to guests that may be under the age of five?
This policy does not apply to guests under the age of five since they are not currently eligible for vaccination. Other public health policies, notably those regarding masks inside University facilities, still apply.

If I am a UMD student or faculty member will I need to show a vaccine card or proof of a negative test?
You need only show a UCard as proof of compliance with this policy to gain entry to events. After reviewing forms of submitted data from faculty, staff and students, the University is confident our community is overwhelmingly vaccinated.

What does fully vaccinated mean?
"Fully vaccinated" means it has been 14 days since your second dose of two-dose vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna), or 14 days since a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  You do NOT need to have received a booster dose.

What forms of government ID are acceptable to verify identity with a proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test?
Acceptable forms of ID are: a state-issued driver's license, a state-issued ID card, or a current passport.

What kind of COVID-19 test is accepted?
A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and/or an antigen test administered by a healthcare professional are considered diagnostic tests for these guidelines.

Do I need one test per event I plan to attend?
No. As long as your test was taken less than 72 hours prior to the each event, you may use that single test to attend multiple events.

Will at home COVID-19 tests be accepted?
No.

Are out of state and international COVID-19 test results valid?
Yes, as long as the test is not one that was self-administered and was taken less than 72 hours prior to the event.

How long will this mandate be in effect?
The temporary policy will remain in effect through Wednesday, February 9, but may be extended.

What if I no longer wish to attend and I have already purchased tickets?
All UMD athletic event season ticket holders and purchasers who purchased tickets through UMD, can refer to the Bulldog Ticket Assurance plan for additional COVID-19 questions. If you have purchased tickets through another outlet (i.e. Ticketmaster, DECC Box Office) you will need to contact the place of purchase for additional options.
